Great News for young families - low cost furniture is available for purchase from the RRR Emporium!
In this community enterprise, volunteers work on furniture donated by St Vincent De Paul Society and Lifeline Gippsland, which is need of restoration.
The community enterprise "Recycle, Renew and Retail" began enthusiastically on the 1st March from funding received from Adult Community and Further Education (ACFE). The project is supported by a strong group of committed partners - GEST, St Vincent de Paul Society, Lifeline Gippsland, Rotary Club of Moe and Latrobe Community Health Service.
RRR Emporium is open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays until September 2012, with funding from sold items going back into the project. Lifeline Gippsland and St Vincent de Paul Society deliver furniture which is not suitable for sale in their shops, avoiding waste and encouraging recycling, in an effort to avoid adding to landfill. It is a marvelous example of what can be achieved when organisations work together to strengthen the community.
Volunteers enjoy gaining skills like sanding, painting and staining, as well as improving their confidence and communication skills. They take great pride in seeing a broken and scratched piece of furniture become attractive and useful once again. They will have the opportunity of completing retail training as well.
